As a teacher, Kathryn strives to motivate her students and show them how to achieve the best for themselves. She endeavours to give a solid grounding in technique that will later provide the framework to play any kind of music.

"I feel that music is the most wonderful avenue for self expression and that all children are capable of applying themselves to eventually accomplish this"

Kathryn very much enjoys her role in both performing and teaching and believes that the two disciplines complement and augment each other. She finds that teaching encourages her to examine the minutiae of technique to better give instruction, and her skill as a performer enables her to demonstrate clearly and musically.

Kathryn has experience working with all age groups, from Year 1 schoolchildren to adult students. She has prepared pupils for numerous performances and examinations, for example ABRSM tests and school entrance auditions. She is also very happy to coach students to play simply for the enjoyment of it! Kathryn has worked for several schools and music services across London and runs an in-demand private practice.

"I believe that I have a warm and positive persona and I always encourage my students to work to the very best of their ability"

In addition to violin Kathryn offers tuition in viola, early grades piano / keyboard and music theory.

Kathryn holds a full DBS certificate and is able to teach in person or online via zoom. All enquiries welcome.
